Marvel Source Says Wolverine Will Join Avengers in New Film
Avengers: Endgame seemed to mark the end of a particular era in the MCU franchise. With that being said it would seem as though a new Avengers will be coming to the big screen, particularly the Young Avengers. According to sources, the most interesting news to be coming to the new phase of Marvel films is the introduction of Wolverine in the Avengers. It is suggested that he will be joining Thor, Scarlet Witch, and others.
If you are a fan of comics and read the source material, then you already know that Wolverine is a crucial part of the classic stories. This is explained in We Got This Covered when they say, “Wolverine was a central part of the team in classic stories like “Civil War,” “Secret Invasion,” “Siege” and “Age of Ultron,” among others. As such, it makes perfect sense to have him join the Avengers in the MCU, too, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen.”
During Comic-Con this year the Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed plans are underway that would introduce X-men and Fantastic Four characters showing up in the end credit scenes to plant seeds for future films. The New Avenger’s team will consist of Black Panther, Spider-Man, Blade, Scarlet Witch, Jane Foster’s Thor, and Shang-Chi.
Some of what was mentioned has been solidified by a Reddit AMA with Joe and Anthony Russo that Wolverine Will Join Avengers. In it they exclaim, “It was a calculated decision to make the most angsty, hypothetical X-Men insert into the context of Infinity War and Endgame. “I’d love to see a fiercely motivated Wolverine going up against Thanos,” Joe said on the show. While it’s a bit of an extreme cut, Joe defended his decision: “It’s not our job to give the people what they want, it’s to give them what they need.” Still, no word yet confirming if Scott Eastwood will be the new Wolverine.
