Two Crucial Roles in The Witcher Netflix Adaptation Has Been Cast
The Witcher Netflix, Ciri and Yennefer Have Finally Been Cast
The long anticipated casting of these to female roles have been a much debated process. IT is not clear if the casting directors or show-runners listened to fans or not, but they picked two actresses that look the part. Meaning look how their in game characters would look.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said Freya Allan (Into The Badlands) and Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust) will join Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, as Ciri and Yennefer of Vengerberg. The Witcher Netflix adaptation is directly pulled from the novels themselves. However they went with casting those who resemble the in-game characters.
Other casting has been made. Jodhi May will play Queen Calanthe, while Björn Hlynur Haraldsson will play her husband, Eist. Adam Levy will play Mousesack the Druid, MyAnna Buring the head of a magical academy named Tissaia (with Mimi Ndiweni and Therica Wilson-Read as unnamed apprentice sorcerers), and lastly, Millie Brady will play an outcast princess, Renfri.
