TeamLab, famous for their Borderless exhibition in Tokyo have teamed up with famous apparel brand earth music & ecology to bring a new, and incredibly immersive light and art exhibition experience to Saga, in Kyushu.

Open from July 12th to November 4th, 2019, this is a wonderful reason to visit Kyushu. TeamLab has incorporated their art into the 500,000 sq. meter Mifuneyama Rakuen Park, which already seamlessly blended into the nature surrounding it, but now has attractive light and sculpture pieces to take visitors on an immersive journey.

With “borderless” still being the goal of the exhibition, the whole thing “explores how nature can become art. The concept of the project is that non-material digital technology can turn nature into art without harming it.” TeamLab wants its visitors to really feel the amount of time the rocks and trees and nature has existed in the park, and get a feel for continuity.

With over 20 exhibits, the sprawling attraction calls itself A Forest Where Gods Live. There is the daytime show:  teamLab: A Forest Where Gods Live, Ruins and Heritage – THE NATURE OF TIME

And the nighttime show:  teamLab: A Forest Where Gods Live – earth music&ecology

Some exhibits can only be seen after sunset, and tickets are advisable to purchase in advance.

Some of our favorite exhibits include the interactive green tea “Flowers Bloom in an Infinite Universe inside a Teacup” exhibit, and the beautiful sculptures inside an abandoned hot spring bathhouse, “Megaliths in the Bath House Ruins.”

Drink your tea and the petals of the flowers that were blooming inside it will scatter in front of you. Fall in love with the angles and colors of the pillars in the bathhouse, and enjoy the feeling that old ruins elicit in you.
