The dystopian Sci-Fi game that is Tales of the Neon Sun is a game we at Geek Impulse are highly anticipating. Last years reveal was amazing. And we are finally coming to the point of its release. April 30th on Steam the game will be available to play. The detail in this 2D game is captivating. The cityscapes are very stylish, there is even what looks to be a 7/11 to make things even more realistic. With this announcement also came a trailer for the game that you can see below.

In this game, you will be solving many puzzles that lead you across the city itself. The story is centered around a growing mistrust between humans and machines. If that was not cool enough for you, well there are Gangster cats, so you’re welcome. This Gangster cats will be under your control throughout as they help you to solve the puzzles. Chinese indie developer Palm Pioneer revealed its release date this week, and we can hardly wait.

Here is description on Steam:

Welcome to a world of intrigue and suspicion. Where humans and robots contend with escalating tensions and mutual distrust. And where gangster felines scheme their way to the top of the food chain.

Boasting stunningly detailed pixel art, and featuring a twisting story of mystery and suspense, this is an exciting new adventure from Chinese indie studio Palm Pioneer. Set in a fully realized cyberpunk cityscape, use your wits and puzzle-solving skills to determine the course of this unique tale.

It looks like a 2D Cyberpunk 2077, with a little bit of Blade Runner sleuthing thrown in.

Here is what Zodiac Interactive has to say:

In a fully realized cyberpunk world of intrigue and suspicion, where humans and robots contend with escalating tensions and mutual distrust, and where gangster felines scheme their way to the top of the food chain, use your wits and puzzle-solving skills to determine the course of this unique tale.

After nearly three years of development, the Chengdu-based development team Palm Pioneer have polished and tuned the final product to meet the award-winning pedigree.

“We grew up as sci-fi lovers on classic anime and movies, with their own variation on an alluring and terrifying cyberpunk future.” said producer Tian Chao. “At the same time, growing up in China during the ongoing economic boom has given many of us the feeling of actually living in such a world of towering skyscrapers and hazy neon streets! Even Denis Villeneuve, director of the recent Blade Runner sequel, referenced Beijing during the design of that movie. This gives us a unique perspective to inject into the now familiar cyberpunk vision.”

Chao continued, “In the game, players will find many puzzles and stories with oriental characteristics, but the oriental elements are only part of the Tales of the Neon Sea world view. Other elements in the game also occupy a very important position. We believe that the integration of these elements creates an interesting and unique experience.”

PlayStation 4 and Switch versions of Tales of the Neon Sea are also in development.
