Here is the Synopsis:

Straightforward and innocent Hisone Amakasu is a Self-Defense Force rookie stationed at the Air Self-Defense Force’s Gifu Base. She was struggling with the fact that she sometimes hurts people unintentionally by her innocent words and decided to join the Air Self-Defense Force, hoping to maintain a certain distance from people. This decision led her to a fateful encounter which profoundly changed her life. It was the “OTF” dragon hidden in the base and it chose Hisone as his pilot. When it soared into the sky with Hisone, her fate as a dragon pilot was decided. What does Aniplex of America have in Common with Persona 5 Anime?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

As of Wednesday Aniplex of America started streaming an English-subtitled version of Persona Atlus’ Persona 5. Scroll down below to watch the trailer itself.

The anime is set to premiere in April on the Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, MBS, and BS11 channels. In a really cool way the voice actors from the game will actually be reprising their roles for the anime series. Personally I think that is awesome. For those of you wondering whom those people are here is the list:

  • Jun Fukuyama as the main protagonist Ren Amamiya
  • Mamoru Miyano as Ryuji Sakamoto
  • Ikue Ōtani as Morgana
  • Nana Mizuki as Anne Takamaki
  • Tomokazu Sugita as Yusuke Kitagawa
  • Rina Satou as Makoto Niijima
  • Aoi Yūki as Futaba Sakura
  • Haruka Tomatsu as Haru Okumura
  • Sōichiro Hoshi as Goro Akechi

Masashi Ishihama (From the New World, Kamichu!) is directing Persona 5 the Animation, and the game franchise’s producer Katsura Hashino is credited with the original story concept. Satomi Ishikawa (Convenience Store Boy Friends) is adapting Shigenori Soejima’s original game character designs for animation. Kazuma Kaneko is credited for having drawn the original demon designs from the game. Shinichi Inotsume (Persona 5 the Animation -The Day Breakers-, Hayate the Combat Butler, Sket Dance) is in charge of the series scripts. Shōji Meguro is returning from the game to compose the anime’s music.

This is not the first anime project Persona 5 has been given since it debuted last September. A-1 Pictures released an anime special titled Persona 5 the Animation – The Day Breakers – abroad last year. The episode covered a prologue tale to the game that detailed the history of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts.

If you are not familiar with the Persona franchise, then you have a bit to catch up on. The series is a wildly popular RPG franchise from Japan. Its fifth game is set in Tokyo and follows gamers as their self-named protagonist transfers to a new school. Gamers then awaken their Persona powers and use them to become masked vigilantes who work to stop supernatural enemies from stealing the hearts of adults.
