The Nipponbashi Street Festival Better Known as Osaka’s Cosplay Street Festival!

We here at Geek Impulse are a fan of Cosplay. We think that it is an expression of ones own character. That statement gets even more accurate when someone adds their own twist to their cosplay outfit. One highlight of cosplay that I have experienced before was Osaka’s Cosplay Street Festival.

The Nipponbashi Street Festival (Osaka’s Cosplay Street Festival) as it is officially called, is held on the streets of Osaka, and as you would expect, it showcases some of the best cosplay Japan has to offer. I always find that the crowds in Japan are usually respectful and join in the festivities. This was no exception.

Cosplay Trends do change each year, there usually is iconic anime and manga that are fan favorites at the cosplay events. 2018 saw some dominating costumes from heroes such as: Spiderman, Batman, and Deadpool along with video game characters from Final Fantasy as well as Studio Ghibli characters. Here is a great video of the event:

Plain and simple there is just the most top rated cosplay goin on at Osaka’s Cosplay Street Festival near Den Den Town. Those Steampunk/clockwork cosplay are awesome in our personal opinion. Be sure to visit the maker of the YouTube Video Rescue the Princess because they are awesome. So what are your thoughts? Did you attend? If not are you going to go next year? We seriously questions someones Geek card if you do not attend at least once. Either way We still Love you Geek Impulse Fam. Be sure to leave your comments down below.

Happy Valentines Senpai! Top 3 recommended animes this season!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Happy Valentines Day! Here is my first Top 3 recommendations with a touch of Senpai for this season!

#1 – Mahou Tsukai no Yume ( 魔法使いの嫁 ) The Ancient Magus’ Bride

The anime itself released as OVA’s on a monthly basis with a length of 1 hour each, total of 3 episodes. The story and art was rich and captivating about a young girl named Chise Hatori who is introduced as an apprentice in a sort of… Studio Ghibli type story telling who looks up to her Senpai.

The show was than adapted into an anime television series with a length of 24 episodes. If you’ve enjoy slice of life with a touch of magic, this is the series for you!

#2 – Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku (デスマーチからはじまる異世界狂想曲) Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

This is a series I’ve been reading intently. It begins with Ichiro Suzuki, a programmer, who is ported into another world, similar to that of the one he is designing, after taking a nap at the end of a death march. A death march is a project in which workers are overworked, overtime, and against better judgement to reach an unrealistic deadline.

Once awakening in this unknown new world he has access to what looks like game icons and status bars. Thus far I’ve enjoyed the pacing of the story and it’s stayed true to that of the manga.

#3 Darling in the FranXX (ダーリン・イン・ザ・フランキス)

I absolutely love this one too. The animation and art style just felt so familiar when watching the first episode. Well upon looking it up it was done by none other than A-1 Pictures and Trigger! No wonder it looked so similar to Kill La Kill!

Though the art work of the FranXX’s, name of the robots, look colorful and cheerful, the story itself has dark undertones and a sad progression. I am just sadly anticipating the fate of the main character Hiro.

That concludes my top three recommendations so far!

Others on my list of Animes to begin watching that I’d like to mention as well include:

  1. Violet Evergarden (ヴァイオレット・エヴァーガーデン)
  2. Karakai Jouzu no takagi-san (からかい上手の高木さん)
  3. Koi wa Ameagari no You ni (恋は雨上がりのように)

See you around Geek Fam! Happy Valentines Day!
