Reading Time: 3 minutes

POKÉMON with YOU Train

https://www.instagram.com/kreamylin/

In the land know as Japan, joy can be found everywhere. Japan has many themed experiences. From themed cafe’s to themed trains. If you want a unique experience then Japan is your destination. With the Olympics coming once again in Tokyo for 2020 I expect we see a lot of new themed events for tourists and participants of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Last time in Japan I came across the POKÉMON with YOU Train. My phone wasn’t Charged so I wasn’t able to take photos. Super sad about that, however I found someone who took many photos so I wanted to share those here with you all now after I get into info about the POKÉMON with YOU Train. You basically enjoy a fun outing with the lively Pikachu.

Playroom Car

Try your hand at being the conductor in the driver’s cab or the engine room. Or play with the loads of gadgets and other fun things filling the area around the reclining Pikachu in the middle of the car.

Communication Seats
(reserved seating cars)

Depictions of Pikachu are everywhere, including the backrests of the seats, the curtains and much more!
Tickets for the POKÉMON with YOU Train are not available for sale outside of Japan. There are multiple ways to purchase tickets as follows.
Passes:
Purchase a pass that is for foreign visitors to Japan and covers the travel area. Recommended passes when visiting Japan
Tickets:
Available for sale at JR EAST Travel Service Centers and your local JR Ticket Office (Midori-no-madoguchi).
Note: Not all services are available on certain trains when boarding with a pass or a ticket.

TIP:

If you have a Japanese travel agency nearby or if not google one and book through them because you can get rail passes for way cheaper. For example if you want to go from Tokyo to Kyoto it will cost you about $100 US or ¥10679.5 JPY for one way. If you plane to travel to several destinations while visiting Japan, travel agencies in your country usually allow you to order rail passes from them at a one time fee that can be used unlimited for the duration of your stay.

So Geek Impulse Fam, have you been to Japan? Do you have any tips for Otaku who are heading that way for a trip? What themed places have you visited? Let me know in the comments below!

To confirm this even further she responded to a fan on Twitter who said that she looks like an anime character. Here is that Tweet:

Here is a photo of her in her pink hair:

If she truly is an anime fan then I would like to see proof from a while ago. Perhaps she just became a fan and as a result she fell in love with anime so much she wanted to express that by coloring her hair pink. So do you think we will see Kim Kardashian West do some cosplay next? If so what would you like to see her cosplay as? Let us know in the comments down below.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is back!!! and is ‘Imbalance’

Reading Time: 2 minutes
For those of you who fell in love with the beautiful and whimsical world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, with characters such as Ang, Katara, and Sokka; the team is now back for a new graphic novel by Dark Horse Comics.

One of the graphic novels, titled Avatar: The Last Airbender — Imbalance Part One, is the first part of a new trilogy that continues the main story. In it, Aang and his friends Katara, Sokka, and Toph find themselves caught up in a conflict between benders and non-benders.The new trilogy of graphic novels comes from writer Faith Erin Hicks and artist Peter Wartman, working in conjunction with the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. Hicks and Wartman will pick up where the previous writer/artist Gene Luen Yang left off.

korranews: Avatar & Legend of Korra News+Fansite

In the first part of Imbalance; Aang, Toph, Katara, and Sokka are dealing with tensions between a benders and a non-bender group in a growing industrial town. This a theme that was explored in the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender’s sequel series The Legend of Korra, which took place in Republic City. Perhaps this booming industrial town will eventually evolve and become the Republic City, and perhaps Imbalance will feature some new ties between Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

Dark Horse Comics has also announced a new one-shot graphic novel titled Avatar: The Last Airbender – Team Avatar Tales. This series will be an anthology title collecting previously released stories from Dark Horse’s Free Comic Book Day samplers and packaging them with some brand new stories. The stories will range from comedies to adventures to more contemplative stories, as Avatar: The Last Airbender is known to do. These will serve as great side stories for viewers to fall in love with the characters and also take a breather from the main storyline. Hicks and Yang will both have stories included, as will Carla Speed McNeill, Ron Koertge, Dav Scheidt, and Sara Goetter. Team Avatar Tales will be released on September 5, while Imbalance Part One arrives on October 10.

The Legend of Korra has also continued in a graphic novel series thanks to Dark Horse Comics. The series, titled “Turf Wars,” is written by co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino and follows Korra’s adventures after the conclusion of the animated series, and it also includes her first kiss with Asami.

If you can’t wait for the new Avatar: The Last Airbender series  and you wish to get caught up on the series or at least relieve the glory days of Ang and his crew; there will be a new full series box set available to viewers in Summer 2018.

21st Pokémon anime film Key Visuals & Trailer

Reading Time: 2 minutes

If you love Pokémon as much as we do at Geek Impulse then this latest news should be an exciting one for you. We just learned that on the official Japanese website for the 21st Pokémon anime film titled Pocket Monster: Minna no Monogatari/Pokémon the Movie: Everyone’s Story has finally been updated with visuals as well as with an introduction to five of its new protagonists, along with Satoshi and Pikachu.

劇場版ポケットモンスター みんなの物語」2018年7月13日(金)ロードショー #ポケモン映画

As you well know if you have been following the franchise for a while now this one continues where the 20th film Kimi ni Kimeta!/I Choose You! Left off. That one of course was released in July of 2017. Below is the list of protagonist for this film:

  • Lisa: a high school girl who is an absolute Pokémon beginner
  • Kagachi: a braggart who can’t stop lying
  • Torito: a timid researcher who can’t have confident in himself
  • Hisui: an eccentric old lady who hates Pokémon
  • Largo: a mysterious girl

To be honest, Lisa, is the first time that we have seen a Pokémon character design that I actually we can fully get behind. Now this release is probably coming because of the rumor of a new Pokémon game coming to the Nintendo Switch. Do you think that in this film Ash will mention that he saw Lugia before, and he is the chosen one? Let us know in the comments below as well as find me on Social Media to continue the conversation as well.

Netflix Sorcery: FullMetal Alchemist Live Action Movie

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Before I get started on my thoughts for the Fullmetal Alchemist live action movie I thought I should introduce myself. I’m Kimberly and a new writer here at Geek Impulse. I’ll most likely talk about my hobbies which include reading manga and comics, watching Netflix, and dabbling in beauty and fashion. I look forward to sharing with you all my thoughts and finds.

Alright, now that that is out of the way we can get down to the nitty-gritty. When I heard Netflix was putting a live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie on their streaming service I had two thoughts; I love Fullmetal Alchemist and Oh no. Live action adaptations do not have the best track records and while there are some exceptions the general consensus is that they suck.

Visually the movie is pretty stunning, as long as you can look past the horrible wigs. The CGI Alphonse was not too bad to look at even if it was awkward in some of the movie situations. The sets and costumes were gorgeous in comparison to some other adaptations and I did not find myself cringing at some of the dialogue. (For some reason anime and manga can get away with cringe-worthy scenes).

What disappointed me was the story. When you try to cram a full season of anime in two hours you lose something in the process. For me, this was my connection to the characters. Ultimately, Fullmetal is about family, brotherhood and the horrors of humanity. Ed and Al have very limited screen time together, which was probably to help limit the cost of CGI. While Ed does mention his love for Al on multiple occasions we need to be shown through actions as well as words.

Fullmetal Alchemist also has a large cast of characters, most of which you come to love (for them to be horribly killed off leaving you reeling for days, OH HUGHES!). Some characters they omitted entirely, which aggravated me a little. In the anime and manga there are certain scenes that punch you straight in the gut so hard you lose your breath, in the adaptation, I barely even blinked.

It’s like the Law of Equivalent Exchange, I’m giving you my precious viewing time, give me a story and characters to care for. If you don’t  mind adaptations and are a huge Fullmetal Alchemist fan, watch the movie and tell me what you think. If not, just rewatch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, it’s also streaming on Netflix.

Pop Team Epic Endless 8 Episode

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Pop Team Epic Endless 8 Episode

Episode 8 of Pop Team Epic will debut on Sunday February 25th. Because of its continued popularity the streaming service Abema TV will be streaming the episode a total of eight times in a row. There is nothing on their official website to confirm this there are a series of photos hinting at this. Fans have suggested that the episode is inspired of course by the 2009 ‘Endless Eight’ which was from the show Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

The show will start at 1:00 a.m. and go until 5:00 a.m. The episode itself is said to be split into two separate parts that are repetitive. The voice actors for Popuko and Pipimi will also change between those two parts as well. With that being said its basically the same content. If you watch the entire segment and I did the match correctly you will have seen the same segment a total of 16 times.  News of the special stream created a a bunch of rumors online, and we at Geek Impulse believe the cast of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya will star in this upcoming episode.

Key Visuals & Teaser released for ‘Caligula Effect’

Last year we received word that that FuRyu’s ‘The Caligula Effect’ RPG will be getting an anime adaptation. So what better way to reveal everything than FuRyu doing a livestream presentation, which they did with a promo, two new visuals, and information on the staff as well as the theme song performers.

We are seeing some cool stuff similar to the adaptation of Persona 5. The similarities of course that the actors of the game are reprising their roles in the anime adaptation. The opening theme is called ‘Paradigm Box’ and will be performed by Chiharu Sawashiro and Shunsuke Takeuchi in character while they switch things up in the ending named ‘Hypno’ will have Rie Murakawa, Ari Ozawa, Rie Takahashi, and Minami Tanaka.

The featured song is Reina Ueda’s “Distorted † Happiness (Anime Re:Arrange Ver.).” and you can see it all below in the video:

Original Concept: Takuya Yamanaka (FuRyu)

Animation Production: Satelight (Aquarion, Log Horizon)

FIRST LOOK: The Live-Action ‘Bleach’ Film

After all this time waiting after hearing the confirmation of there being a live action Bleach being filmed we have a trailer. Now I am going to be honest and say that I am not a fan of live action, but looking at this trailer I am a bit more optimistic.

Director Shinsuke Sato will be directing. He has directed Oblivion Island and a couple of Gantz movies. The film is set to release in July on the 20th in Japan. Below this clip shows a bit more of the early action. We see Ichigo (My Favorite) in his first moments as a Shinigami.

Main Cast Thus far:

Hana Sugisaki as Kuchiki Rukia!

Sota Fukushi as Ichigo Kurosaki
