If you haven’t heard yet, well Nintendo and LEGO partnered up in a unique way earlier this year with their rendition of Super Mario. Today they decided to release how they leveled up their partnership and what that looks like. They did this by this New Lego’s Build-able NES Console. Oh and yes it comes with a retro 80’s style TV set for that extra taste of authenticity.
There ‘s incredible size and detail included in New Lego’s Build-able NES, but Lego has announced official pricing for the 2,646-piece package ahead of it being available at Lego stores and Lego.com beginning on August 1. It will set you back $229.99. The NES comes complete with a rectangular controller and cartridge. The cartridge can also be put inside the front once you pop it open like a regular NES. It wont load or actually do anything at all, but its a nice touch.
The two sets directly communicate, which is a perfect way to justify buying both of them. When you put the interactive Mario character atop the NES ‘TV, the figure will play the Super Mario Bros. theme song and all of the accompanying sound effects as the on-screen Mario jumps, collects power-ups, and squashes baddies.
“Super Mario has been a cherished figure in the gaming world for over thirty years now,” said Maarten Simons, Creative Lead on LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, in the official announcement. “Many adults still fondly remember that first time they saw Mario leap across the small screen, even if the graphics were a lot simpler than they are today. With the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, we’re letting them truly indulge in that nostalgia, recreating one of the most-loved consoles of all time so they can see the Super Mario from their childhoods once again – and even to share the experience of gaming in the 1980s with their own children.”
