Joaquin Phoenix's Trailer Release Joker Geek Impulse

Its a Dark and Twisted Film

CinemaCon in Las Vegas Revealed the Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker film. It would seem to tell the story of a man who has been beaten down by the world around him. The movie is by director Todd Phillips and is a Warner Bros. DC film based on an iconic villain that has gone down in history as one of the most recognizable around the world. Check out the Trailer.

“There’s been a lot of chatter about what this film is and what it isn’t and most of it is not accurate,” “But it’s expected when you set out to make an origin story about a beloved character who basically has no definitive origin.”

The trailer that was released today shows Arthur Fleck, a man stumbling through life and rejected by society, walking the streets of Gotham. “My mother always tells me to smile and put on a happy face — she told me I had a purpose to bring laughter and joy to the world,” as he narrates over the video. It would seem as though the character is attempting to spread happiness in the world by being a clown. We see him dancing and washing his mother who seems ill. We see a slow decline in his mental health as he sits at a diner with Zazie Beetz who plays Sophie Dumond.

“Gotham’s lost its way,” Arthur says just before emerging as the Joker, while dancing in a red suit with his signature clown makeup. “What kind of coward would do something that cold-blooded?” a cop asks, as another says, “Someone who hides behind a mask.”

Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is just the latest in a legacy of actors who have taken on the role of Joker. Heath Ledger was arguably the best rendition of DC’s Villain in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Jared Leto in Suicide Squad, and Cameron Monaghan in the television series Gotham. This version seems to be aligned with Ledger’s version. Perhaps a way to pay respect to the late actor. This trailer does not excite us, but we are hopeful the film will be good. What are your thoughts?
