New GHOSTBUSTERS Original Universe Sequel - Geek Impulse News

The Ghostbusters is returning with a film set in the original universe. The last one we got was a big flop. It appears that this one will be directed by Jason Reitman who has done films such as Juno and thank you for not smoking. One of the coolest things this is that Jason is written and directing the film is also the son of the original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the film is going to be an original sequel to the original Ghostbusters franchise, or at the very least the movie will be set in the universe established by the first two films. The writing and directing will ignore the events of the 2016 reboot from director Paul Feig. The movie is set to start filming in a few months and currently has a 2020 release date.

“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans. This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.” Reitman ( Entertainment Weekly )

So the biggest question on your mind and our is probably which of the original cast will we see in this next installment? Will the New GHOSTBUSTERS Original Universe Sequel feature Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, and Ernie Hudson? What about the grown up baby Oscar from the second film? What fan service would you enjoy seeing in 2020?
