Makers of PUBG are Suing The Makers of Fortnite
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Today we learn that the makers of PUBG are suing Epic Games for Copyright infringement. Bluehole which is the company that created PUBG stated:
“After listening to the public feedback of our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, We are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known,” Bluehole vice president Chang Han Kim said in the release. We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in their promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press. This was never discussed with us and we do not feel that it is right. “
Even though there are different weapons, different maps, artistic style and even the fact that you can build on the game, both games still have similarities at their core. Epic Games exclaimed that their game is inspired by PUBG as well as H1Z1 King of The Kill. PUBG itself is based on a an Arma mod. So through all this Bluehole is claiming they own this game mode. The funny thing here is PUBG was made using Unreal Game Engine developed by Epic Games. We will have to wait and see what happens in the actual court case, but it will be interesting to see what happens with the public in regards to this new news. People are really upset on line with PUBG.
