The show only had six episodes. It aired 17 years ago. With all the renewed interest in anime from Japan, the show is now getting the episodes it deserves. As a result of the small amount of episodes the show gained a cult like following. That is to be expected given that is about a mysterious young woman on a motor scooter named Haruhara Haruko, carrying around a Rickenbacker 4001 bass guitar, who hits a kid named Naota on the head and opens up a portal through which giant robots emerge periodically. FLCL will rejoin Adult Swim’s Toonami block at two distinct points this year, first in June—with a season being dubbed FLCL Progressive—and then in September, under the moniker FLCL Alternative.

Production I.G., the company that originally produced the series, who is also known for such works as Ghost in the Shell, Attack on Titan, and Psycho-Pass, will be producing the updated FLCL, alongside series creator Kazuya Tsurumaki, who will serve as supervisor with director Katsuyuki Motohiro of Psycho-Pass fame and character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto who is famous for Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Are you excited for the comeback of this Anime hit FLCL (Fooly Cooly)?
