Idris Elba is Said to be in The Running For 007
Ever since 2014, Idris Elba has been a hot topic to replace Daniel Craig as the lead role of 007. We at Geek Impulse couldn’t agree more. Back in an interview in 2015 Idris Elba said, “If human beings want to know if there’s any connectivity between all of us, the one thing I’ve heard around the world universally is that, ‘You’ll be great at James Bond!” He went on to say, If it should happen, that’s proof there’s connectivity amongst human beings. If everyone wants something, they can make it happen. That would be true.”
Later in 2017 Idris said during a Telegraph interview:
“He no longer wanted to speak about the possibility. “Why not? “Because it feels like I’m campaigning, and I’m not. At first it was harmless — oh, I know, wouldn’t it be great? — and now it’s started off racial debates. I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I’ve not even played the role. Enough is enough. I can’t talk about it any more.”
Many other actors are in the running. Daniel Craig recently said that Bond 25 which comes out in 2019, will be his last. The Spider-man star Tom Holland has expressed interest in the role as well as Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy. The Independent has reported:
Director Antoine Fuqua revealed the details of a conversation with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, in which she said “it is time” for a non-white actor to take on the iconic role. Fuqua discussed who might be next in the running with Broccoli, who’s certain the progressive move “will happen eventually”, witha reported frontrunner for the role.
