First of all Henry Cavill still has one movie left to play as Superman in the DCU. The issue right now it seems is contract negotiations with Warner Bros. Here is what the Hollywood Reporter has to say about this situation:

Warners had been trying to enlist Cavill, who most recently co-starred in Mission: Impossible — Fallout, for a Superman cameo in Shazam!, which stars Zachary Levi and will bow April 5. But contract talks between Cavill’s WME reps and Warners broke down, and the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances.

Cavill has plenty of projects in the works and the most notable is the one for The Witcher series to air on Netflix. He will be playing the main role of Geralt. It would seem as though Warner Bros. is desperately trying to revamp the DCU and is failing hard. Affleck is seemingly out as Batman and now this. Here is the official statement by Warner Bros.:

“We have a great relationship and great respect for Henry Cavill that continues to remain unchanged. Additionally we have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films,” read a statement from a Warner Bros. spokesperson after the initial publication of this story.

The other part of this story is that Michael B. Jordan is in the running to replace Cavill as the new Superman. Many people are up in arms. Mostly because the general public do not read comics or at least not all of them. Calvin Ellis of Earth 23 was a black Superman who is also the President of the United States. Jordan also recently talked about a team up with Warner Bros. to bring more inclusivity and diversity to Hollywood, so It wont be surprising if that is the direction they choose to go.

So tell us, are you excited about this news? Do you want to continue to see Henry Cavill stay as Superman or do you think Michael B Jordan will bring a new refreshing take on the DC Character? Lets discuss in the comments or on social.
