The long wait is over. HBO has finally gone ahead and green-lit a follow-up pilot to its acclaimed international hit Game of Thrones and it looks to be every bit of awesome we were expecting here at Geek Impulse. HBO has ordered a prequel drama from writer Jane Goldman. Goldman is known recently for such works as: Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass. George R.R. Martin will be instrumental for this series as well.

The storyline released by HBO states:

“Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

The pilot doesn’t yet have a title. Given that it takes place before Game of Thrones, it does not look like we will be seeing any of the current cast. Goldman is credited as co-creator on the drama along with Martin and will serve as show-runner. Here is a good rundown about the coming show in the video below.
