First Look at The Hayao Miyazaki Documentary ‘Never Ending Man’
The Genius Hayao Miyazaki
Hayao Miyazaki is sometimes referred to as the Walt Disney of Japan. In 2013 he put away his pencils and retired. Luckily he has come out for one last film. As luck would have it, The retirement hasn’t lasted long and now fans all over the world will get a chance to see this Animated Genius in action. The long-awaited documentary, Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki, the trailer has been released.
Never-Ending Man is a deep look into the legend who once believed he was past his prime and how he transformed himself to rekindle the passion he had all these years. In it he finds interest in 3-D computer graphics which is an art form that the old school animators reject. We get a look as he embarks on a CGI film for the Ghibli Museum called Boro the Caterpillar. The documentary originally aired on TV in Japan in 2016 which shows his challenge to embrace this new form of animation.
“All my work over decades could be for nothing ,” Miyazaki says with fire. GKids Films, which handles distribution of all of Studio Ghibli flicks in North America, will release Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki to select theaters this winter.
