The staff of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, the new 3D CG Ghost in the Shell anime, unveiled a new trailer for the anime on Monday. The video reveals the anime’s main cast members, music composers, theme song artists, and April worldwide debut on Netflix.
Ghost in the Shell is a cyberpunk series centered on a counter-cyberterrorist organization that spans manga, anime, games, and films. Although there have been several iterations of its story, Ghost in the Shell generally follows Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg cop, and crime-solve task force Public Security Section 9. SAC_2045 will tell a similar story when it’s released in April.
Atsuko Tanaka, Akio Ohtsuka, Kōichi Yamadera, Yutaka Nakano, Toru Ohkawa, Takashi Onozuka, Tarô Yamaguchi, and Sakiko Tamagawa all reprise their respective roles as Motoko Kusanagi, Batou, Togusa, Ishikawa, Saito, Paz, Borma, and the Tachikoma from previous anime installments in the franchise (only Ghost in the Shell Arise had different cast members voicing the characters). Osamu Saka returns from the various Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex anime as Daisuke Aramaki.
Kodansha and Production I.G announced a new anime based on Masamune Shirow’s GITS manga in April 2017. Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki are directing the project at Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts. Production I.G. USA president Maki Terashima-Furuta previously stated during an interview that the anime would have two 12-episode seasons, with Kamiyama (GITS: Stand Alone Complex) directing one of the seasons, and Aramaki (Appleseed) directing the other. Russian illustrator Ilya Kushinov (The Wonderland) is the character designer.
In my opinion, CG isn’t always bad but this looks like an early PlayStation era cut-scene running in 1080p. Are you excited for this?
