The project’s director Jeanie Finlay was given “unprecedented access.”
With the final season of Game of Thrones around the corner, HBO decided to drop even more good news for fans. Season 8 will start on April 14th and go until May 19th. The network says that a week later, fans will have the opportunity to a two-hour making-of documentary chronicling all the work that went into creating the final season.
Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is set to air on May 26th and is directed by Jeanie Finlay. This will be the absolute last chance for fans to bid farewell to the beloved show. The Last Watch is being promoted as an actually in-depth look and not a traditional behind-the-scenes access.

According to Entertainment Weekly:
HBO says the movie “delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland … Much more than a ‘making of’ documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it.”James Hibberd
