It has been only a day since allegations of emotional abuse and sexual assault against Hardwick by former girlfriend Chloe Dykstra. However the industry is already responding. At the moment Chris Hardwick has been Expelled from attending panels at the San Diego Comic Con and other events. Nerdist News has distanced themselves from him as well. Nerdist News has unlisted him from their website as well as disavow him.
AMC has officially dropped the interview show Talking with Chris Hardwick. In a statement, AMC seemed to indicate that the show could return if the accusations are cleared up.
“We have had a positive working relationship with Chris Hardwick for many years,” AMC said in a statement. “We take the troubling allegations that surfaced yesterday very seriously. While we assess the situation, Talking with Chris Hardwick will not air on AMC, and Chris has decided to step aside from moderating planned AMC and BBC America panels at Comic-Con International in San Diego next month.”
Hardwick had been announced earlier this week as the moderator for the Doctor Who panel and was to moderate the panel for The Walking Dead as well. According to TMZ, the festival’s organizers will be replacing his scheduled comedy routine with another act to be determined. Hardwick responded to Chloe’s Medium essay “Rose-Colored Glasses: A Confession” which posted on Friday. It detailed disturbing claims that Hardwick had subjected her to severe emotional abuse during their 3-year relationship as well as pressured her into sex against her will. Hardwick said:
“I was heartbroken to read Chloe’s post. Our three-year relationship was not perfect — we were ultimately not a good match and argued — even shouted at each other — but I loved her and did my best to uplift and support her as a partner and companion in any way and at no time did I sexually assault her.”
“When we were living together, I found out that Chloe had cheated on me, and I ended the relationship. For several weeks after we broke up, she asked to get back together with me and even told me she wanted to have kids with me, ‘build a life’ with me and told me that I was ‘the one,’ but I did not want to be with someone who was unfaithful. I’m devastated to read that she is now accusing me of conduct that did not occur. l was blindsided by her post and always wanted the best for her. As a husband, a son, and future father, I do not condone any kind of mistreatment of women.”
I am shocked that this has gotten out of control…Innocent until proven guilty…what happened to that? Probably a good idea to not have a guy accused of sexual assault introducing the first female Doctor at SDCC. Whether the allegations are true or not, it would be a huge distraction and Jodie Whitaker deserves no to have a shadow cast over her spotlight.
For those asking I don not have social except for a personal Facebook. I am a bit shy. Thank you all for your understanding. I am getting out of my shell sorta speak, more and more so I will have something in the near future.
