There currently is news that Diablo and Overwatch are getting animated series based on the games. Diablo will be getting the anime treatment, while Overwatch will be a traditional animated series. The Diablo anime will be released on Netflix. This is according to the LinkedIn profile of Nick van Dyk, co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios, who previously served as a producer on the Netflix original animated series Skylanders Academy.

According to Van Dyk’s description of his position within Activision, Diablo is getting an animated adaptation “rendered in anime style,” which is currently in pre-production and will release worldwide through Netflix. They show has been rumored for a few years, but now with this news above, it would seem that it is finally happening and will be released sometime in 2021.

His profile reads:

Someone said they were working on a Netflix Diablo anime in July last year. Netflix is suddenly getting all these good video game adaptions. Resident Evil live action, DMC anime, Dragons Dogma anime, Castlevania, Witcher. It is probably a good thing since now they have to compete with Disney and others.
