Many people dream of the chance to work for an anime studio especially one as big as Studio Ghibli. Imagine Geek Impulse’s surprise when the most world-famous anime company which has produced Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke as well as other classics said they are hiring. The very possibility of working for Hayao Miyazaki seems like a dream, but it can be a reality for you.

The reality is right now, that if you meat the requirements for the recruitment advertising recently posted by Studio Ghibli, you can live your wildest dreams as an animator. They are currently looking for experienced and talented painters. The catch is that you need to be well versed in 2-D animation software, OpenToonz or RETAS as well as Adobe Photoshop.

So what are the other requirements? The applicant must be at least 20 years of age, proficient in Japanese, be living in Japan by May 31st, so it is safe to say they have a large pool to choose from. Those that are successful in getting the job will be expected to work Monday-Friday starting October 1st. It is a new project as we mentioned. The pay is ¥250,000 or US $2,500 equivalent give or take depending on the exchange rate. The contract will be for 18 months. You will get to have the best perk which is to work in the headquarters for Studio Ghibli and work alongside Miyazaki himself.
