This is Not Creepy at All
China’s state-run news agency Xinhua has unveiled the newest member to its team. Two AI ( Artificial Intelligence ) reporters/anchors. One speaks English while the other speaks Chinese. At first glance they look like real humans. On closer examination, you can tel that their voices, facial expressions and mouth movements are synthesized and animated. “AI anchors have officially become members of the Xinhua News Agency reporting team,” the agency said. “They will work with other anchors to bring you authoritative, timely and accurate news information in both Chinese and English.”

According to South China Morning Post, the AI news anchors can be watched through Xinhua’s English and Chinese apps, its TV webpage and its WeChat public account. search engine company Sogou, provides the data to the Artificial Intelligence. You can clearly see that there is still a lot of work to do in the space of AI news anchors. At some point I am sure AI will take my position of writing.
