Altered Carbon: Re-sleeved Geek Impulse Anime

Dai Sato, the creative mind behind “Cowboy Bebop,” further explores and expands upon the “Altered Carbon” universe in this anime adaptation.

Altered Carbon: Resleeved” from Anima, is an adaptation of Netflix’s original live-action science fiction series “Altered Carbon,” which launched in February 2018. It will explore new elements of the series mythology.

The main staff for Altered Carbon: Resleeved includes:
  • Director: Takeru Nakajima
  • Screenplay: Dai Sato, Tsukasa Kondō
  • Animation production: anima Inc.

This is just a part of what Netflix is attempting to do as far as a growth strategy. In a statement they said:

“Netflix aims to be the most compelling and attractive home for anime fans, creators and production studios. We are creating an environment where production houses can do their best work, and deliver their shows on a service where we connect anime fans from over 190 countries to the content they love” said Netflix director of content (Japan), John Derderian, in a statement. “We’re particularly excited by the production line deal as this allows our creative team to focus on creating great content,” said Anima Inc. representative director Shinya Sasahara.

A lot of the anime fandom has been critical of the streaming giant. The most notable is the comments about the remake of Ghost in a Shell. Comments like, “Why is every damn anime from Netflix CGI nobody wants that,” or Stand Alone Complex! I always loved the actual SAC series over the two films (dug both, just prefer SAC more) and wondered if it’d be revisited. Not feeling the animation style either though. Hopefully, it looks a bit better by release time, but I’m already missing the 2D cel approach.

What are your thoughts on Netflix and all the Anime they are attempting to bring from Japan and release it into the United States? We prefer the old school Ghost in The Shell.
